Week One

To say that yesterday was a success would be an understatement. Actually it looked more like a spring regatta. I never did get an actual head count but I did count 18 plus cars in the lot at one point in time. I believe a few more arrived after that.

It was a great day to sail with winds at 10 - 12 gusting to 15 at times. The race results will follow. I think we had 7 boats sailing and everyone else present were watching and visiting. It was a good day for it.

As usual Rob had some great BBQ and salads. Windy took charge of the race committee and also did the kitchen work, thanks a lot for the help.

Don't forget we'll be doing it again next Sunday, rain or shine. Ermyne will be bringing chili and all the extras to go with it. See you up there.

Week Two

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better it did. Not only was it another great day for sailing but Ermyne's chili was outstanding as usual. You could tell by the amount consumed yesterday.

We had another big crowd, the wind was 12 - 15 and Rusty and Rob set a long course. The race lasted 1-1/2 hours, for some of us, one hour for others.

The club now has a new stove and new refrigerator. Also this week Beaux Leake has debuted our new new web site. Check it out it's even better than before.

We will also be setting up the weather station that Sam Maranto has donated to the club. It's on the list of things to get done soon.

As of now the long range forecast for next Sunday is partly cloudy and upper 50's so make your plans to come up. We'll be going for three for three great days. See you there.

Week Three

Well we did it again today. For those of you who like a good chicken & sausage gumbo on a cold day and you didn't come to the club today you missed an excellent one.

Susan Poydock did a great job with her gumbo, green salad, cheese balls and king cakes. We ate well. The sailing wasn't too bad either. We also had a lot of our members come up and just enjoy the social part of the day.

Next Sunday will be the last race in this years series and it'll be my turn at the stove so make plans to come out one more time, rain or shine, hot or cold. See you Sunday.

Week Four

Paint Drying - That would sum up the race yesterday. It was about that exciting. However it was an excellent day to hone your light air sailing skills. Ann could have painted the start, no camera was needed.

In spite of the lack of wind we still had another good crowd, 20 or 25 I would guess. I think everybody had a good time as usual. This was our last Coffee Pot race for this year. We managed to get in 4 races and that's pretty good for this time of the year.

Now it's time to move on to February and continue our good sailing participation like last year. This Sunday, Super Bowl Sunday is our first scheduled sailing day. Had I realized that, it would not be the first day so if you can't make it, me included, we can skip it and begin again next week.

But next Tuesday is our Mardi Gras Cruise to New Roads. A plan was hatched yesterday before we left the club. We'll have leftover coffee pot food when we get back to the club. We'll have time while we wait for everyone to leave New Roads after the parades. There is room on boats if you need a ride. Contact Dennis or John. If anyone else is coming and has room let us know. See you Tuesday Feb. 5

Thank You,
Greg Bradley
